Count Down to Completion

My home

is nearing completion. My anticipated close date is Jan 31rst. I am not quite sure how this is going to be completed by then, but that is what I am still being told. Not a great picture of my house. I need to go at lunch and get a good day time picture. Still no electricity, but as of today I have cabinets, doors (minus the stolen front door), garage door, kitchen countertops, and posts for my soon to be backyard fence. The painters were out yesterday priming the house to paint the outside. I did have to get upset. I was told a piece of the overhang near the roof that was cracked in two places would be replaced by the painters before the painted the outside of the house. Nope, they caulked the 2 big cracks! Like caulking would fix the issue! I think not! I was pretty upset and told the sales lady that was out there with me, if she did not call Jimmy, my contractor, that I wanted his cell number. This one will be replaced! Let alone my niece, Josie touched a piece of the siding and it fell off! There is not much siding on this house and to be honest I am not sure why there is any siding on it at all. Pretty dumb if you ask me, but leave it to men to be builders and home designers! The people who care the least about such things. But Josie barely touched it and it fell off and again the painters tried to caulk it back in place! Trust me I knocked it back loose in front of the sales lady! I will go back out there and knock it loose veryday until it is fixed so I can't knock it loose.

Mom and I spent 2 hours at the house on Sunday afternoon sweeping the floors clean. I was told the floors would be going in on Monday and if I didn't want them to carpet over nails and various other odds and ends I would need to sweep myself. I was a little disappointed to get out to the house yesterday and not see any floors being worked on. No carpet, no kitchen flooring, not even the wood like I was told, but my kitchen counter tops were down! That was cool! Fence posts were up, so my fence will be in this week.

Electricty would be great as well. But I guess until they replace my stolen front door they can't start installing fixtures. LOL. That is right someone stole my front door last Thursday evening! I went out Friday and it was gone. The construction dooor is back on it, but I miss my pretty door. Oh well, I am sure it will be replaced soon.

Happy New Year! I have Walls!

Happy new Year 2006!

Where did 2005 go? It seems like it just whipped right by, just where oh where did it go? I remember parts of it and can account for parts but where did all those other weekends go? I guess it was all focused on house building for me this year.

I went away for a week to Louisiana to visit family. I got back from out of town to discover I had walls, a mailbox and a drive way. I was very sad I did not get a chance to write my name in the cement. :-( Boohoo~ I wanted to include a penny from the year 2005 in it somewhere as well, but just my luck there is one little spot on the front walkway that is all cracked up and they will have to pour a little bit of cement to fix it so I am hoping by the time I see they have repoured that spot it will be wet enough for me to include my penny.

It was very cool to walk in my house with walls. I have more electrical outlets than a little in my house! I love it! This week the walls will be painted, flooring installed, and kitchen cabinets and counters all should be going in this week. I would have a picture of my house but I left the card at home yesterday. I will post a new picture or two tomorrow. And yes as of Saturday I will be moving at the end of Jan. 30 days or less. I am told I will be closing on Jan 30th! I can not believe it! I am so excited.

So my weekend this weekend was spent packing. All of my scrapbook stuff will be packed by this evening. No more scrapping until after I move.

Ok back to packing I go!

My Niece and Nephew

Ok so I have not posted their pictures in while so I am being the good Aunt and doing it now. I adore these two and could not love them anymore if they were my own. My new house has kept me away a but this year but as soon as it is done there will be some great sleep overs trust me!

My newphew is potty trained at 2. He decided on his own he did not want to want to wear diapers anymore. My SIL was great to pick up on his clues that he was done with diapers. It is so funny to see him running around in his underwear. Buz Lightyear AWAY!
Josie was Wonder Woman for Halloween this year! She love her cape and boots!

Surprise Baby Shower

I got an invite to my best friend's baby sister's baby shower recently. Krissy holds a special place in my heart because I remember when she was in he her Mom's womb and when my best friend told me she was born. I also remember the fun 6 months we spent living together when she was 13 and alone living her her Mom's house in Plano. I was 23 and had fun playing big sister/friend/room mate to her and her friends. I got a taste for what it is like to raise a 13 year for a few months. We had fin together and I cherish those months we spent together. Krissy is married and now living in Scottsdale Arizona. Another wonderful friend to spend time with the next time I am out that way. Hey Kim she wants some pregnancy pictures taken and I am sending her your way! She is having a baby boy! Her shower was very fun and I do not think I have ever seen anyone so emotional and truly surprised at a party before in my life! Her mom is one tricky mom! Flying her out to Texas for a shower and her none the wiser! I can't believe she is going to be a mother! I am so happy for her! I can't wait to see little Dominic!
