Sigh of Relief

That last two days at work have been about the worst ever. Beyond me getting fired or laid off which that would have made it the worst day ever for me, these last two days have been pretty darn close! My company went through layoffs. It wasn't that fact that we had them, it was how we found out about them that made them so aweful. Men are stupid! Enough said. I cant' say how we found out, due to threats of lawsuit. It was wild crazy, exhausting and very sad today as people were let go. I absolutely hate days like this. HATE THEM. I wish there were other things that could have been done beyond letting people go especially since we have been hiring people like crazy these past few months, but I am no manager and just maybe I don't see the big picture for the company. I am thankfull and blessed it was not my time.
I absolutely LOVE my job. I work for a great group. I pray I am around for many more years.

All I can say is bring on the Margarita's because I certainly need one about now!

A Call at 1:38 AM

So I am fnally sound asleep this morning, when I get woke up by a ringing phone. No one ever calls me at that time except wrong numbers. At first I think I am not going to check who called, it has to be a wrong number, but then I think what if it is an emergency call from someone in my family? I better check the caller ID. Outside it was pouring! It had not rained around here in 6 weeks and it was coming down hard so maybe someone was in an accident or something. I did not recognize the number so I listen to the voicemail. It was the city Police Dispatcher telling me my front door was open if it wasn't my garage door. Well I knew it was not my front door since I had to pass by the front door to get my phone. I un-alarmed the house and check the garage door. Nope sound shut, so I call the dispatcher back. I advise the police they called the wrong house.
With two houses with the same street number and nearly the same street name, my fear had come true. The police called the wrong house in an emergency. I just knew this would happen one day. Why wouldn't the police get it wrong? Every one else does. I still get my neighbors mail. So when I call back, I tell the dispatcher he called the wrong house. He must have meant the other house and goes "OH no you are right!" How comforting is THAT? Let alone what a way to get woken up! "Mam your front door is open in the rain". And why didn't the police go out and check on the house in person?! I mean a neighbor did call in the open door situation to the police!
Ahh Life in a small town in Texas!

It Sounds Like Rain

Ok it is almost midnight on aSaturday night and I am on the web. I spent the day inside today sewing. This is good for me because when I get in my car and go somewhere I want to spend money and I really can't do that right now. Especially since I went shopping with my Mom Friday after work.
We hit the big Steinmart Sale. An extra 20% off any sale item and I still had another 20% off any item coupon with no expiration date. I wasn't really looking for any inparticular but if I saw something that hit me I would buy it. Of course I was shopping for the house and not clothes.
And of course something did hit me! I found those mini candelabra shades on sale. I had been looking at these at pottery barn, but they are like $10 each and above there. I needed 5. get this they were marked originally $11.00 each, and I got 5 raw silk beaded red ones for $3.33 each!! They turned out perfect! I am going to move the lighting fixture in my living room into my kitchen above my new kitchen table. It will look great now with the shades.

Yes after 6 weeks of no rain, it is thundering outside. I don't hear any rain falling but I prat it starts. We need it here in TEXAS. We are on stage 3 drought conditions and I can only use my sprinkler system one day a week. UGH I can hand water but I do not always want to do that when I get home frm work. Thus my lonely peach tree is looking pretty dismal these days. I think it is a goner.
Oh well I needed to move it anyway. Thankfully I did not spend $100 bucks on it.
Please please rain!

Something Creative

I broke down this past weekend and worked on something creative. No I didn't scrap any LO's but I did modge podge a box I bought with scrapbook papers to go in my bedroom under my vanity. I bought a 1920's vanity right before I moved in and I just adore it. I need to refinish it later because whomever painted it black didn't do a good job, but the vanity has "good bones" . I love the gold accent urns on the corners of it especially since I want to go with a renaissance, Italian look in my bedroom. Passionate red, glorious gold and midnight black are the colors I am going with. I want a dramatic look after going all green and Grecian or turquoise and airy for a while. I think red, black and gold is pretty darn dramatic for a bedroom.

So I was out shopping with my cousin last weekend and spotted some cute hat type boxes that would go in my room, the problem was they were pretty expensive. So I decided I could buy a cheaper box, and modge podge the heck out of it to make it match my bedroom. The odds were I had scrapping paper at home to match already. I did!
I wanted the box to store my hot rollers in under my vanity. I didn't like the look of leaving them out on the vanity all the time and I have little storage in my bathroom, so a box underneath the vanity it would be.
Here it is! That is my inspiration picture. Funny when I bought it I bought it to go in my scrap/sewing room, but that room has taken on a whole different look now.

So at last I did something creative! Now to get the douvet cover, pillow shams and curtains made for my bedroom. The dust ruffle is almost dome! I will start with douvet this weekend.

See the chair at my vanity. That was one of my deals of the day. It was marked $300 originally and I got it for $70.00! It matches perfectly with all the fabric I had bought for my bedroom.

Poison IVeeeeeeY

Yeppers I have poison ivy in my back yard along with...... FIELD MICE~ How perfect for a new home owner. I not only so I have to kill off the posion ivy and a wild blackberry bush but I also get to fight field mice this summer so they do not take over in the winter. UGH!!!

I got the warm fuzzy call Monday morning from an exterminator that stopped by last week to sign me up, so I got him to take a look and take a few pics. He called me back and let me know what the strange holes were that had me confounded since the day I moved in. Oh boy please tell me again why I am a home owner and not still renting?
